A train collided with a pickup truck at a railway intersection near Dietrich on Tuesday night.

At approximately 7 p.m., a westward-bound freight train carrying about two miles of railcars collided with a white pickup truck near the junction of South 1000 East and Idaho Route 24, reported the Idaho State Police.

The troopers mentioned that the driver of the pickup truck made it through the accident and was airlifted to a nearby medical facility due to "minor injuries."

The collision resulted in the pickup truck flipping over into a neighboring ditch, also causing the railway crossing sign to fall. Law enforcement officials are presently looking into the cause of the accident.

The Union Pacific Railroad has joined the effort and is helping with the probe.

The Idaho State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Dietrich Fire District, and the Dietrich Quick Response Unit all dispatched resources to address the accident. Updates will be provided by KMVT once information becomes accessible.
